Interim Principal AppointedNovember 19, 2016 3:16 pm
Lincoln University Technical College is pleased to announced that Paul Batterbury is to become its new Principal.
Mr Batterbury has accepted the role on an interim basis until the end of August 2017 following a selection process that included panel representation from the Board of Governors, Lincoln UTC Trust and the Baker Dearing Trust. As a result of the appointment, he will move from his current role as Head of Science at Lincoln UTC to his new post in January 2017.
The 54-year old has enjoyed a successful 30-year teaching career, in which time he has led colleges in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, been Head of Secondary at The British School in Kathmandu, Nepal and Principal of an International Secondary School in the West Midlands.
The interview process was led by Paul Birt, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Paul was the stand out applicant. He offers us a terrific mix of teaching experience and leadership roles in a variety of senior management teams. He also knows the UTC inside out, which will allow him to hit the ground running in the New Year.
“When our current principal, Dr Mackenzie, announced she was leaving, we decided not to be overly hasty in the recruitment process to find her successor. The Board agreed that an interim principal was what we needed with a planned nationwide campaign being prepared for 2017.
“Having Paul as our interim principal is perfect for us and will ensure the college continues to receive excellent leadership until a permanent appointment is made in the summer term, when the field will be considerably larger as education professionals are considering new challenges and not focused on their current schools and colleges.”
Mr Batterbury added: “I am delighted to be appointed as Interim Principal of Lincoln UTC; it is an honour and a privilege. I will be working with the excellent and loyal staff to ensure we continue to deliver great opportunities to our students to ensure that each and every one experiences success. Lincoln UTC offers a unique education but at its core are its students and these shall remain our primary focus.”
