The First Day at Lincoln UTCSeptember 8, 2014 5:16 pm
Today has been quite amazing. From the moment the press arrived at 6.45am, starting with a live broadcast on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, we have been inundated with new faces! Interviews with The Lincolnshire Echo and The Lincolnite followed and our VIP guests arrived in time to welcome our students. Our Chair of Governors, Gary Headland, and Vice Chair of Governors, Claire Goodenough, were joined by many dignitaries from companies including Siemens, British Sugar, Micrometric and Lindum. The Director of Education, Keith Batty, joined our guests in the Chapel as they welcomed our first cohort of students. It was a very proud moment for us as students walked through the doors and into the Chapel, making new friends and preparing for a full day of events. A large press photograph on the lawn marked the end of the initial celebrations and Year 12 students then headed off to RAF Cranwell whilst the remainder of the College took part in Vex Robotics and Mathematics challenges. A fabulous feast was prepared by our Chef, Mel, both at break and lunchtime and after a full day of activities our students were ready to make their way down Steep Hill to catch buses and trains. What a wonderful start – we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
