On Wednesday 7th December, Tom Martin was invited to the University of Manchester for an interview with regards to studying for a MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. During the interview Tom was asked a series of academic questions to gauge his suitability. Tom completed these questions with great ease and it was noted by Professor Andrew Forsyth that Tom did not require the equation sheet that was about to be provided.

Today Tom found out that he has been accepted to the University of Manchester and in addition to this has been offered a placement with reduced entry requirements. Electrical and Electronic Engineering studied at the University of Manchester is within the top 1% worldwide, with only three other universities – Southampton University, Harvard University and MIT ranking higher. The normal entry requirement is A*AA and Tom has been offered ABB – a fantastic achievement!

Tom has worked exceptionally hard and it is clear that his commitment to excellence has paid off. Tom and his family also believe that the additional Further Mathematics AS Level he is studying may have helped prepare Tom for his interview. We agree wholeheartedly – our Further Mathematics AS and A2 courses are opening many doors for UTC students like Tom. Well done Tom, we are all very proud of your achievements!
