The UTC movement has always been focussed on developing real skills for the world of work. Our curriculum is governed by and directed by the interactions we have with local, regional and national business and we are proud to have a significant number of employer partners involved in this way.

By working in closely with local businesses, we are able to look at ways that learning at Lincoln UTC can be directed towards the skills needed to be successful at KS4 and KS5, as well as at the same time, making sure that student develop meaningful skills needed in the work place. Because of this, our students have the opportunity to benefit from educational opportunities grounded within real industry experiences.

These connections are valuable for our students both during their studies and in future. The large majority of our alumni that have now secured apprenticeships did so as a direct consequence of the relationships they formed with these employers whilst students at the UTC.

In addition to our work experience programme, some of our Post-16 students also get the opportunity to have a longer industrial placement in parallel with their studies at the UTC and our Project Based Learning curriculum is designed by industrial lead businesses, to offer ‘real life'  industry problems, to challenge our learners.

This is organised so that during term time, they will spend four days a week in school and the remaining day with a local business. The programme is designed to build a long-term relationship enabling students to gain an in-depth understanding of the organisation they’re involved with, and evidence the practical application of their skills.

We have recently placed students with Micrometric Ltd, HGL Dynamics, Destec Engineering Ltd, and NMB Minebea and our students often go on to work for businesses, such as Rolls Royce, Dyson, Fairfield Controllers, Dynex, and BAE - to name only a few.

Here's just a few businesses that have partnered with Lincoln UTC recently:

This initiative is unique to Lincoln UTC, and is one of the many reasons why our graduates are highly employable.
