KS4 - OCR Cambridge National Enterprise & Marketing (Y10 & Y11.)

In KS4 students have the opportunity to work towards a Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing within the business studies department as their optional subject.

An aspiration for many young people is to be self-employed and start their own business. The skills required for this, such as being able to work collaboratively and creatively, solve problems and have awareness of businesses and customers, are also those requested by employers.

The two centre-assessed units offer practical task-based assessment opportunities(RO68 and RO69) alongside the examined unit (RO67) which contains underpinning knowledge and understanding, resulting in a focused qualification that complements a Key Stage 4 study programme alongside other vocational qualifications and GCSEs.

Got an idea? Discover how to turn it into a business opportunity. Our Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing combines business knowledge with practical challenges that put you in the role of an entrepreneur. You’ll explore what customers want, develop a product proposal, create a brand and pitch your ideas. Along the way, you’ll build your creativity, confidence and problem-solving skills—useful foundations for further study, future employment or one day running your own business.

What makes a business idea succeed?

Discover how businesses attract customers, make money and stand out from the competition. You’ll explore the risks entrepreneurs take, how market research informs decisions, and why pricing and promotion matter. Apply your learning to business situations and develop your own judgement about what could work—and why.

Take an idea from “what if?” to a workable proposal.

Step into the role of a product designer and business planner. You’ll investigate what customers want, develop a product idea and use feedback to improve it. Then you’ll work out the costs and potential profit to judge whether your proposal makes business sense. It’s your opportunity to combine creativity with research and practical decision-making.

Give your idea an identity—and a voice.

How will you get customers interested in your product? You’ll develop a brand, create promotional materials and prepare a pitch that explains what makes your proposal worth considering. Practise presenting, respond to questions and use feedback to reflect on your performance. Build communication skills and confidence you can take into future study, interviews and work.
