A Royal Event

On Thursday 28th May 2015 Dr Mackenzie was honoured to attend Her Majesty The Queen’s Garden Party, at Buckingham Palace, in recognition of her services to education. Her husband flew over from his work place, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to join her and they met in London for the event. It was a beautiful day and they joined the long queues outside the Palace to show their invitations and be welcomed through the main entrance, across the courtyard and into the Palace. They emerged into the gardens to be welcomed by music, played by two royal bands, and tents of refreshments surrounding the perimeter of the gardens. The Queen, Princess Margaret and other distinguished guests arrived and walked through the crowds, greeting attendees and then settling to enjoy their tea, sandwiches and cakes. It is true, there were cucumber sandwiches! Dr Mackenzie and her husband were given a wonderful afternoon spread of edible goodies and walked the gardens and around the lake. It was a very impressive event and certainly a day to remember, thanks to the generosity and kindness of Her Majesty The Queen.
