Educate Against Hate

January 19, 2016 8:37 pm

You may have seen in the press today that Nicky Morgan, The Secretary of State, has launched a new website called ‘Educate Against Hate‘. The site brings together the best advice, support and resources available for parents, teachers and school leaders who want to learn how to protect young people from extremism and radicalisation, and is the result of successful collaboration between: The Department for Education; Home Office; NSPCC; Internet Matters; Childnet; ParentZone; UK Internet Safety Centre; and the many other organisations who have contributed resources. It is vitally important that we are all aware of the dangers of extremism and radicalisation, irrespective of where we live in the UK. Some students believe that because they live in Lincolnshire, this does not affect them. However, the ‘Prevent’ agenda affects us all and every member of UTC staff has received training to support our students. I hope you will take time to read the link above and ensure that your son or daughter is aware of the dangers of extremism and radicalisation and understands how they can seek support should they find themselves exposed to such activities. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us at the UTC.
