Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 have a block of time within their timetable for projects. These are an opportunity for students to develop or improve skills that will be helpful in life. The idea of the different project sessions is that students develop character traits such as independence, creativity and resilience. The projects are a mixture of tasks either set internally by Lincoln UTC or externally by local businesses or community groups. Two examples include a Siemens Turbine Machinery Ltd project based around the efficiencies of different turbine designs and how they can be improved; while students also had the opportunity to build a clawbot from our VEX Robotics kits before advancing to their own designs.
Lincoln UTC students have the opportunity to take part in externally organised challenges through-out the academic year. Recent challenges that students have participated in include the Royal Navy Engineering Challenge, Lincolnshire Show Schools’ Challenge and F1 in Schools competition.
