Space Exploration

Lincoln UTC students had a fantastic opportunity to enrich their studies in Physics by experiencing the facilities at the National Space Centre in Leceister.

Our students were given a tour around the planetarium and enjoyed two presentations: the solar system; life on other planets. Lincoln UTC were challenged to go to Saturn, taking on a mission to seek out new life and new civilisations…to boldly go where no Lincoln UTC student had gone before!

They enjoyed a huge range of experiences including measuring Stellar distances using parallax and Cepheid variables, exploring the Big Bang and Hubble’s constant, calculating equations to reach the age of the Universe, building a small refracting telescope and exploring multi-spectral astronomy. Our students were inspired to reach beyond the confines of our planet and explore space and beyond. An inspiring day for all!
