The Real Business Challenge 2017

For the second year in a row students from Lincoln UTC reached the Finals of The Real Business Challenge. Students travelled to the competitions finale held at the iPro stadium – the football stadium of Derby County Football Club.

On arrival, students were presented with a business challenge set by Coca-Cola Enterprises. The task involved designing promoting the work of the Special Olympics Great Britain organisation and raising awareness of the Special Olympics Great Britain’s National Summer Games to be held in Sheffield in August 2017. Students had to write a script and record a radio advertisement, create advertising materials and provide a 4 minute presentation to a panel of judges and over 100 other teachers and students.

Students gained the opportunity to work as a team, gain inter-personal and communication skills and develop their financial awareness. During the day students had a business mentor, an employee of Coca-Cola who offered guidance and help during the challenge; helping use the students’ knowledge learnt in class to a specific organisations need.
