Vex National ChampionshipsMarch 15, 2015 1:02 pm
Tom Stammers and Sam Ashley are two of our keen engineers in year 12. Since September 2014, alongside their study, they have also been immersed in a new world of Vex Robotics. Not only have the team learnt to build, programme and operate their own robot they jumped straight into a regional competition. The challenge to engineer an obstacle course and guide key targets to key points, saw the birth of Boris. Each section of the challenge scored points, and naturally the highest points won the match. The Regional Competition put these boys through to National Finals. The Match Day was set for Round one Birmingham NEC during the Big Bang education fair. We can’t believe Boris and the team made it through Day One and passed through to the final leg of Day Two. Starting at position 37 out of 40 entries the day was going to be tough to move. We were so proud as our team climbed up the ladder and finished the round of challenges on number 27. Our first competition, our first robot, our first UTC Lincoln team to compete and perform outstandingly on a national stage. We are so proud of the VEX Teams commitment and efforts, we can’t wait till next year, watch that leader board we are aiming high!
