This term it has been pleasing to see how well our students have adapted to being back at the UTC. Our remote learning programme throughout lockdown was very successful, with high levels of attendance, behaviour, and engagement. Despite this, I believe I can speak for all staff when I say we are happy to be back in school. We continue to be proud of each and every one of our students for maintaining a mature and positive attitude towards learning throughout the challenges of the past year.
We look forward to returning to a normal timetable for all students after Easter. The majority of the assessment tasks that we will use to determine GCSE and A Level/BTEC grades will take place during weeks commencing 3rd May and 10th May for year 11 students, and 17th May and 24th May for year 13 students. We hope that all our students have a relaxing and well-earned break over the Easter fortnight, but please try to make time for revision as well. There is still time to make a difference and Google Classroom is full of resources to support this.
Looking ahead, the remainder of this academic year will be full of opportunities for our students. We are currently in the development stages of some exciting new projects that will be launched over the coming months. On Monday 17th May, our year 11 students that plan to return to the UTC in September will be ‘promoted’ to be sixth form students as part of a six-week bridging programme. We will also be arranging an induction for our external applicants in year 10 and year 12.
I look forward to seeing all students back at the UTC on Monday 19th April.
