Last week UTC alumni Eve Beedham visited us for a Business Lunch with a small group of Y10 students. Since leaving Lincoln UTC, Eve secured a job role as an Arable Farm Worker within a large agricultural business. She drives and services agricultural machinery, and is also involved in field crop production and soil management.
Our year 10 student reporters, Maisie and Lacee, have written the following news article on the experience...
"Last week we were lucky enough to be visited by a former student, Eve Beedham, for a business lunch during which we got the chance to ask questions and find out about how we might access a potential career in agriculture.
"Eve studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A Level and achieved A's in each subject, with initial hopes to pursue a career in dentistry. However, she soon realised that she preferred a practical approach to the classroom environment, which led Eve to discover her career in Arable Farming.
"Eve utilises engineering skills learnt at the UTC when fixing machinery on the farm. She also has many additional jobs, including drilling, spraying, mowing and cultivating.
"Meeting Eve has taught us that we could find success in a job that makes us happy rather than taking a traditional approach. We are very grateful Eve took time to educate us on what she does, and the possibilities that are available to us after we leave school."
