Students at Lincoln University
Technical College (UTC) have achieved outstanding GCSE results in the school’s
specialist subjects; engineering, maths, science and technology.
69% of GCSE students achieved top grades in the UTC specialisms of engineering and the three separate sciences. Results were equally as strong in English and maths with 79% and 86% of students achieving a grade 4-9 respectively.
“When I look at our students I am humbled by their fortitude and resilience. They are a generation whose experience and education have been hit so much over the last few years. Therefore, we are particularly pleased that despite numerous challenges our students have achieved excellent and very well-deserved GCSE results.” said the Principal of Lincoln UTC, John Morrison.
“We are delighted that many of our year 11 students have chosen to remain at the UTC to continue their studies in our sixth form, and also look forward to welcoming new students in September.”
UTC students Brooke Evans and Ruby Whitelock achieved top grades in their GCSEs and two distinction* grades in their Cambridge National engineering qualifications. Both students plan to continue at the UTC in September studying A Levels in maths, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Brooke’s mother, Anna Evans, said: “As parents, it’s always easy to see the potential your child is capable of. However, finding the right team to access that potential, is a much harder task. Especially when it’s the key to giving them the best possible start to their future.
“The staff at Lincoln UTC have not only been there to support and nurture Brooke, but to challenge and drive her into achieving the outstanding results that she fully deserves! Her success is a testament to the trust and relationships that the teachers at the UTC have forged with the students. They should be commended on what they have achieved during such a turbulent couple of years.”
Ruby’s mother, Gemma Whitelock, said: “We are honestly so impressed with the support that Ruby has received from the Lincoln UTC over the last 2 years. After a tricky time at other education settings locally, Ruby has found her happy place and has thrived.
“The learning environment and support at the UTC has been second to none, particularly over the lockdown periods when learning was transferred online. Every student becomes part of the UTC family and genuinely does feel valued in a way that just doesn’t happen in other places. The level of enthusiasm and passion for making learning exciting demonstrated by the whole staff team really does shine through.”
