This year we have several new exciting Projects on the timetable.
After speaking to lots of engineering companies over the course of last year it was identified by some that a skills gap within next generation of engineers is a good understanding of Hydraulics and Pneumatics. With this in mind we have developed a new Projects course to solve this skills gap, The students begin in week one by learning the basics of Hydraulics/Pneumatics with a little theory, then they build a pre-supplied kit to get a feel for the theory they've learnt about working in action.
Over the duration of the project the students use their own design skills, ideas and then manufacturing skills to make a functioning Hydraulic machine of their own. Working with the theory of Hydraulics, using their maths skills to work out the necessary forces and angles, and their imagination will culminate in week 4 with their own finished creation that has a practical purpose!
